I’m an adamant believer that you should know how to use Facebook groups for business, because I’ve used them to get great results in the past. Brands using Facebook groups in 2019 can personify their business and get organic growth to help them get off the ground. With just a few Facebook group marketing tips, you can get out there and start growing followers the next day.

If you don’t know, Facebook groups are communities that come together to discuss a common topic – this can be everything from digital marketing to Marvel movies. Members of Facebook groups can start conversations, answer questions, and post content. A Facebook group is like a Facebook page that more than one person can post to, and they generally see much higher engagement because of that.

Brands using Facebook groups will also appear higher in newsfeeds because the Facebook algorithm promotes group posts. You can find groups about content creation, blogging, entrepreneurship, or digital marketing with just a few searches. Good Facebook groups can be difficult to find, but with some time and effort you can start networking with other online businesses and getting in front of clients.

Finding Facebook groups for marketers is a simple task, but there are a lot of groups that are full of spam. The only way to find good Facebook groups is to sift through the chaff, though. You’ll have to get your hands a little dirty and start sorting through on your own.

To find Facebook groups, head to the search field at the top of your Facebook feed and search for relevant keywords. These are most likely to be topics – most brands using Facebook groups find them by searching for topics like entrepreneurship, marketing, etc. You can also search by location if you’re looking to network locally, or looking to branch out into a particular area.

Beyond that, there are a few more advanced ways to find Facebook groups for marketers. For example, you can search for Facebook groups that people who follow me join. You can also use the Discover tab to find relevant groups. 


Under the Discover tab, Facebook will suggest groups that your friends have joined or that it thinks you might like. For the most part, you’ll find just find local, community based groups and other niche communities. However, Facebook groups for marketers are going to start appearing here once you’ve started engaging with and following them.

The best Facebook groups are usually closed, but don’t let this intimidate you. If there are obvious qualifications that you don’t meet, applying to join the group probably isn’t worth it. However, most groups simply want you to answer some questions to prove that you aren’t spam – so you’ll be alright if you aren’t a robot.

How to Use Facebook Groups for Business Development

Beyond joining groups, operating your own Facebook group for marketers is a great way to develop your business. Brands using Facebook groups see better engagement than brands who are only using their own Facebook page. If you know how to use Facebook groups for business development, you can gain new, engaged followers and customers easily.

Setting up your group is just as simple as setting up your Facebook page. Make sure when you do that you use the most relevant keyword somewhere in your title, as well as relevant keywords throughout the about section. This makes sure that your group will appear in the correct searches.

Most Facebook groups – like mine – are open to anyone. However, you can also use closed groups to stay in touch with customers who have already performed an action – for example, I offer a Facebook group closed to people who have been through my courses. A closed group can also create a sense of exclusivity, which can be attractive.


To help grow your Facebook groups for marketers, consider offering group exclusive content. This can be in the form of discounts that you release to people in the groups. PDFs, or live training. For some groups, courses can also be a great way to engage.

Best Facebook Group Practices for Brands 

Getting your agency’s name into Facebook groups or at the top of one can be a great way to grow, but you need to do it the right way. If you don’t follow best practices, your engagement will be ineffective. You can easily come across spammy by interacting too much, or get lost by interacting too little.

It’s best that you interact once a day, or 2 to 3 times a week if that’s not possible. Posting more than this can come across spammy, but you should be answering questions and making comments as often as you can. Answering questions and making comments shows your expertise and eagerness to interact in other groups, while posting in your own shows that it’s active and worth joining.

Try to share high quality content, whether it’s your own or content that you’ve curated. Post thought-provoking discussion questions alongside it. Make yourself a resource for the other people in the group to show your own value to them and anyone who might look at the group.

You should also use the group as a resource. Be sure to encourage other people to share by liking and commenting, and showing your support however possible. You can also use groups to find individuals for your agency – make posts in relevant groups if you’re hiring, or have a question for an expert.

When growing your own group, send out invitation links to your followers. If you’ve been maintaining an email list, you can convert those people to group members by sending out a link. Showcase the people who share in your group as well, to show people who aren’t members that you’re paying attention.

Interacting positively and genuinely will show how you are as a person, and why you are worth doing business with. The more you share, the more people are going to be interested in your business, and they’ll begin to associate your brand with what you’re sharing. This is the key to Facebook in general, and certainly Facebook groups.
