1. The use of SWEPS in guiding your digital marketing strategy

Digital marketing is one of the fastest developing industries in the world. The industry is constantly changing and evolving and that can make it tough to stay on top of new developments. However, the SWEPS technique is a standard that won’t be going anywhere any time soon and should make up the foundation of your digital marketing strategy.

S | Social Media Marketing

There are many ways of setting up a social media presence, and these are just some examples of where to start:

  • Facebook
    • Business Page Setup and Optimization
      • CTA button
      • About Section/Business Info (NAP info, Description, Products/Services)
      • Profile/Cover photo
      • Reviews (if applicable)
      • Message bot/responder
    • Saved Audiences: Research & Development
    • Pixel Created & Installed (if the pixel was previously installed then set up custom and lookalike audiences)
    • Posting/Content Strategy
      • Post frequency
      • Post type
      • Post content strategy
  • Instagram
    • Convert to a business page
    • Profile pic/pics on the page (at least 6 to start a new page)
    • About section, complete with business URL
    • Hashtag strategy

  • CTA’s/Sales Funnels: Are they present/are they working?

The SWEPS checklist is the best way to ensure that your business has an advantage over your competitors. The best marketing campaigns happen when ALL 5 key parts of the SWEPS approach to digital marketing are being used.

2. Determine the Most Effective Social Platform

When you land your first client, the key is to get results for them quickly! To do this you need to consider which social platform is going to perform the best with regards to their ad budget and goals. Are Facebook ads going to be the best route for your client, or should you look at PPC or Vlogging? There are several ways to get results with Digital Marketing, but you MUST understand the business you are planning to promote before you begin spending and creating!

First, you should consider the industry that your client identifies with best. You should look at trends and where people in the industry are currently investing their ad budgets.

Next, I would look at the typical customers in the industry— specifically, with regards to your client’s average customer. Determine what the sales cycle looks like in the industry and how customers convert into sales. Look at what social platforms they are using and decide what is best for your customer.

Finally, decide which social channel has the best “Business Manager” platform for your goals. Most online ad networks like Facebook and Google have a back-end manager to set up ads, look at reporting and analytics, and adjust campaigns. Some have better tracking capabilities than others, so you’ll want to be familiar with what’s available to make the best decision.

3. The Follow Up and Engagement

The most important piece to getting results with your marketing campaigns is following up and engaging with leads and customers. By this, I mean that you should have tracking software installed on your ads and site so that when you run ad campaigns you’re able to re-target previously engaged users with more ads. *Did You Know* that on average it takes around 5-7 times of a cold lead engaging with an ad or business before they make a purchase. This is why it’s SUPER important to make sure that you have a strong follow-up the campaign in place and that you are tracking all engagements and visitors.
