What are Chrome Extensions?

Extensions are FREE tools that you can install in your Chrome browser from the Web Store. Once you install an Extension, it changes the browser’s functionality.

Extensions are easy to install—it simply takes a click of a mouse—and the right ones can help increase your marketing agency’s productivity exponentially.

The Chrome Web Store features a bunch of SEO extensions that can help you perform daily tasks quicker, or attain your goals more easily. In this top 10 list, I’ll be going over which Extensions I have found the most helpful in growing my digital marketing agency.

1) Buzzsumo

Buzzsumo is one of the most popular FREE SEO Extensions, and there’s definitely a reason for that. It is an Extension that shows the engagement of certain content, and can therefore help you evaluate your own content and come up with new ideas.

Buzzsumo displays the number of engagements something receives on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Reddit. It also displays an article’s Evergreen Score, which is the number of social engagements and backlinks an article receives 30 days after the article is published. The more engagement something receives, the higher the score.

A higher score could result in greater authority for your topic and higher search rankings. You can also see who posted about your content on Twitter, Facebook, and more. You can get a snapshot of how your content is doing at any given time by seeing backlinks the article received, and you can also check out what your competitors are doing and how their content stacks up.

2) SEOQuake

SEOQuake is another free plugin. It conducts an on-page SEO Audit and shows a range of helpful SEO metrics, from your Alexa rank to your Google position, Facebook likes, onsite optimization, and more.

The SEO bar provides an instant snapshot of any web page you’re browsing, giving you the ability to conduct a low-key competitive analysis.

Other notable features include the tool’s keyword analysis, which provides a structured report of all keywords found on the page. This is great for your own keyword research and keyword generation.

3) Check My Links

Check My Links is a link checker that crawls through your webpage and looks for broken links. It highlights which ones are valid and which ones are broken so that you can go in and fix any problems.

This is essential to boosting your SEO, as broken links can severely impact your webpages’ performance in your search engine ranking.

4) Keywords Everywhere

Keywords Everywhere is, as the name suggests, a free keyword research tool. It pulls data from Google Search Console, Ubersuggest, and Keyword Planner. When you install this Extension, you’ll be able to see Google keyword search volume, cost per click, and competition data of keywords on multiple websites.

It is also helpful for finding long tail phrases with accurate search volume, and allows you to download lists to Excel, CSV, or PDF file formats.

5) Page Analytics

Page Analytics is an extension that gives you Google Analytics data in real time. If logged into GA, you can check metrics from your account without looking at the full website.

These metrics include unique page views, average time on page, bounce rate, and more. Page Analytics makes it easy to figure out if you’re providing real value to your readers, and help you know when you need to re-evaluate your content strategy.

6) Google Tag Assistant

This extension shows if Google tags are working properly. With Google Tag Assistant, you can diagnose and troubleshoot issues with your GA account directly from the extension.

With Google Tag Assistant you can identify missing or broken tags, making SEO and AdWords audits much easier.

7) Evernote Web Clipper

Evernote Web Clipper clip links and pages to be shared across teams for collaboration. This is a great extension to have you have many team members working remotely, as it makes collaboration much easier.

Another great feature of Evernote Web Clipper is that content does not expire. If a link is a 404 redirect, the content is still accessible through this extension.

8) Redirect Path

Redirect Path is another Extension that helps inform you of when something is broken on your webpage. It identifies errors and redirects, which is essential to improving SEO as redirect monitoring is a key element of SEO

It also reveals 301, 302, 404, and 500 HTTP error codes and spots Meta and JavaScript redirects.

9) Grammarly

Grammarly is a tool that checks for proper grammar, spelling, and overused words. It will check your work while you edit, draft an email, or create a Social Media posts.

Grammarly ensures that all of your text, regardless of platform, is professional, polished, and free of grammatical errors. It is just one more way to make sure that your content is that much better than your competitions’.

10) Mozbar

Mozbar is one of our favorite extensions here at Cereal Entrepreneur. It is an all in one SEO toolbar that allows you to create custom searches by engine, country, region, or city. With Mozbar, you can quickly assess the Page Authority and Domain Authority of any site or page.

You can also:

  • Access and compare link metrics across pages while viewing any SERP
  • Find and highlight keywords on a page and differentiate links by type (Followed, No-Followed, External, or Internal)
  • Expose page elements, general attributes, markup, and HTTP status
  • Export your search engine results page (SERP) analysis details to a CSV file
